PDO stands for Polydioxanone, the main component in the completion of this procedure. The PDO Facial Lift is a non surgical aesthetic procedure using ‘threads’ which promises exciting advances for those whose sagging skin and wrinkles are not being adequately treated by fillers and botox alone.
The threads will work in two main ways: lifting/ adding volume; and repositioning tissue giving an instant improvement. The initial procedure is then enhanced over the coming weeks and months as collagen growth is stimulated by the action of inserting the threads, followed by the immune reaction that they create as they sit in the tissue.
The PDO threads contain ‘cones’ along the length which, when placed in position under the skin, reposition tissue, tightening it and lifting the tissue structures surrounding the thread. The threads are then naturally reabsorbed by the body in the following 18-24 months.
The PDO Facial Lift procedure begins, after consultation, with local anaesthetic to minimise potential pain. The performing doctor will place threads under the skin using a needle. The underlying tissue is moved along the threads while cones are positioned along it’s length to anchor the tissue into it’s new position. This procedure can be very intricate, as such it must only be undertaken by specifically trained, competent and experienced doctors.
When you book with us, you will first be seen by our fully trained doctors for a consultation who will assess the suitability and viability of the procedures you would like to have completed. Complications, although rare, can arise including the severing of nerves and vessels, pain and bruising.
The whole procedure will take approximately 30 minutes. You will need a consultation with the doctor first to assess suitability and the best method of achieving the result you are looking for. Areas that can be treated / improved include:
Facial aesthetics, although non-surgical and often offered as ‘risk free’ treatments, can go wrong. A relatively simple procedure can become a nightmare if not treated correctly. Injections placed in the wrong area, the use of the wrong product and the use of fake products are all risks that can be avoided. If you have been treated by another facial aesthetic practitioner and you’re concerned that something is not right, book a consultation with us now and we can implement some corrective treatments.
